## Small groups and a whiteboard.

Classes meet every week, so we ask class volunteers to come regularly. Groups stay small, so every child gets called up to the board sooner or later.

- **Maths class.** Times tables and sums on the whiteboard, worked through in small groups, so every child gets a turn.
- **Spoken English.** Children practise speaking English and speaking up in front of the group. The classes run at our community centre in Ibbaluru.
- **Art & craft.** Social-awareness art classes: Optimists teach a topic through pictures, then the children make posters about it and explain what they understood, which builds their confidence in speaking.
- **Special sessions.** Some sessions bring the outside world in: disaster preparedness, caring for older relatives, and a postmaster who left every child with a postcard to send.
