# Terms of use

These terms explain what you can expect from Proud Indian and what we ask of you when you use our website, our volunteer dashboard, or Proud Indian in an AI assistant. They are short, and we have tried to keep them plain.

Effective date: 26 October 2026

## Who we are

Proud Indian is a volunteer-run charitable trust in Bengaluru, registered under registration number INT-4-00864-2018-19. Our registered office is at No. 224, 3rd Floor, WorkFlo Ranka Junction, 80/3, Old Madras Road, KR Puram, Bengaluru 560016.

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Proud Indian, and "you" means anyone who uses the services below.

You can write to us at connect@proudindian.ngo, call or WhatsApp us on +91 99864 31321, or write to the registered office above.

## What these terms cover

These terms apply when you use:

- this website, proudindian.ngo;
- our volunteer dashboard at dash.proudindian.ngo;
- Proud Indian in ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants, which talk to the dashboard at `https://dash.proudindian.ngo/api/mcp` (see [Proud Indian in ChatGPT and Claude](https://proudindian.ngo/assistants/)).

By using any of them, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them. Our [privacy policy](https://proudindian.ngo/privacy/) explains how we handle your personal data, and it forms part of these terms.

## Volunteering

Volunteers must be 18 or older. Volunteering with Proud Indian is unpaid and voluntary. It does not make you our employee, agent or partner, and it gives you no right to pay, benefits or future work. If we pay back costs you had to meet for a programme, that is a reimbursement under our usual approval process, not payment for your time.

When you volunteer with us, you agree to:

- follow our [safeguarding rules](https://proudindian.ngo/volunteer/#safeguarding) and our child-safeguarding policy whenever you are with children in our programmes;
- follow the instructions of your team lead and the people running the session;
- treat children, families, partners and other volunteers with respect;
- keep private what you learn about the children and families we work with, and not share their photos or details yourself.

We may decline a request to volunteer, or end someone's participation, at our discretion, especially where the safety of children is concerned. We will usually explain why, but we don't have to when doing so could put someone at risk.

## Dashboard accounts

To volunteer, you need an account on the dashboard. When you have one:

- give us accurate details and keep them up to date;
- keep your password safe and don't share your account. You are responsible for what happens under it;
- have only one account, for yourself. Don't create an account for someone else, or more than one for yourself;
- tell us at connect@proudindian.ngo if you think someone else has used your account.

We may suspend or close an account that is used to break these terms, to harm others, or to misuse the dashboard or the data in it. Where we can, we will tell you first. You can ask us to delete your account at any time, as the privacy policy explains.

## Using Proud Indian in an AI assistant

You can use Proud Indian in ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants that support it. [Proud Indian in ChatGPT and Claude](https://proudindian.ngo/assistants/) explains what it can do and how to add it.

- **The assistant is not ours.** ChatGPT is run by OpenAI and Claude by Anthropic, under their own terms and privacy policies. We are responsible only for our connector and our dashboard, not for the assistant or what it says.
- **Check before you confirm.** AI assistants can make mistakes. They can get a date, a place or a detail wrong, or misunderstand what you asked. Check the session and the details the assistant is about to send before you confirm, and rely on the dashboard and this website for the final word.
- **It counts as yours once you confirm.** A sign-up made through an assistant counts as yours only once you confirm your email address. A session request made through an assistant counts as yours only if you have connected your own account. Don't sign up anyone else, or use details that aren't yours.
- **You can disconnect at any time.** Disconnect Proud Indian in the assistant's settings, or write to us and we will remove the connection.

Session requests made through an assistant follow the same rules as those made in the dashboard: your team lead approves them, and these terms apply to you as a volunteer.

## Donations

Donations are made through our Razorpay payment page and processed by Razorpay and its payment partners under their own terms. We never see your card, UPI or bank details.

All donations are voluntary. Proud Indian is registered under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. If you add your PAN when you donate, we email you an 80G receipt, and Form 10BE after the financial year ends. Please make sure the details you give are correct, since we report them to the Income Tax Department.

If you have a question about a donation, or think a payment was made in error, write to us at connect@proudindian.ngo with your Razorpay payment ID, and we will look into it.

## Acceptable use

When you use our website, the dashboard or our connector, please don't:

- break the law, or use our services to harass, threaten or harm anyone;
- pretend to be someone else, or sign up or act for someone without their permission;
- post or upload anything unlawful, abusive or misleading, or anything that puts a child at risk;
- copy, share or misuse other people's personal data, including photos of children, that you see in the dashboard;
- try to get into accounts or data you are not allowed to see, or test, probe or attack our systems;
- overload our services, or use automated tools to collect data from them, beyond what an AI assistant does for you through our connector;
- use our name or the dashboard to raise money or make promises on our behalf without our written permission.

If you find a security problem, please tell us at connect@proudindian.ngo and give us a reasonable time to fix it before you share it.

## Our content and name

The text, photos, logos and design of this website, and the reports and documents we publish, belong to Proud Indian or to the people who allowed us to use them. You may share links to our pages and quote short passages with credit. Please don't reuse our photos, especially photos of children, or our name and logo without asking us first.

## Privacy

Our [privacy policy](https://proudindian.ngo/privacy/) explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

## Disclaimers and liability

We are a small volunteer-run charity. We work hard to keep our website and the dashboard accurate, available and secure, but we provide them as they are. Session times, places and details can change, and our services may sometimes be unavailable.

As far as the law allows, Proud Indian, its trustees and its volunteers are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by:

- events outside our reasonable control, such as power or network failures;
- services we don't run, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Razorpay and WhatsApp;
- an AI assistant's mistakes, or a request you confirmed without checking it;
- your own use of our services against these terms.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

## Changes to these terms

We will update these terms when our services or the law change. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. If a change matters for people with a dashboard account, we will also tell them by email or in the dashboard. If you keep using our services after a change, the new terms apply.

## Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them. Before going to court, please write to us so we can try to sort it out together.
